‘You’re My Miró’ is a homage to play! It’s about seeing what happens when you throw caution to the wind, take a chance, and GO FOR IT! I love the deep grooves scraped into thick paper, as well as the red and yellow of Catalonia. I spent a fab day in Barcelona’s Fundació Joan Miró, a gallery set up by Joan Miró for his legacy of Abstract Expressionism contemporary art. His raw Brut style and bright colours permit me to create with the same playful abandon. I made this at a time of restlessness - I had finished some very small pieces for Jack And Jill’s Incognito art show, and the energy was flowing!
So I started off blind, playing with acrylics and inks, working in phases, letting stuff dry, and listening for instruction from the thing that is wanting to be made. I went all out, with vibrant reds and yellows of Catalonia, shards of black Sumi ink, then scraping deep grooves hard into thick paper ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤 See the video below - my hand hesitates as I try to tune in to what I’m being told to do. Uncertainty precedes decisive action in this artwork, and I loved every moment!
Like a lot of my original artworks, ‘You’re My Miró’ is layered, scraped, and textured. It cannot easily be made into prints, so I am making it available only as an original. That’s right, this will never make it to print, it truly is a one-off unique piece of original artwork. If you purchase it, you will own the only one of its kind!
The price tag reflects this, so contact me if you would like to pay for this original artwork in instalments.
